A Community Theatre in the heart of the Community
Finally the sun is making an appearance and with it comes a whole new range of performances happening at The SandPit in the next few months. As we speed towards the summer break we have some new faces in the form of Breakaway Theatre Company who visit us for the first time. They bring us a new and exciting version of Romeo & Juliet.
We have some old faces as Spotlight Youth Theatre return to us with their production of The Wiz, a spectactular musical featuring a 40 strong cast. St Albans Green Party returns to us with a showing of The Age of Stupid, potentially the most important film this year, certainly the most talked about. And the crew from Best Theatre Arts in Hertford are performing their version of the hit show Histeria!
As well as all that we are delighted to announce that world renowed pianist Neil Brand is visiting us to accompany two of the all time great films of the silent era. Safety Last is Harrold Lloyds masterpiece, featuring the famous scene of him hanging from a clock face high above downtown LA. Also included is Big Business, the Laurel and Hardy short story of a man who turned the other cheek and got punched in the nose. We hope you can join us for this night of classic film.
This season also brings round our Arts Community Theatre project here at Sandringham School. Over the years we have invited the community to join us in making some great theatre, including shows such as Fame and High School Musical. This year the cast features the up and comning talent from the local junior schools and is made of up children from years 5, 6, 7 and 8.
The show is Dodger! A musical sequel to Oliver! A new musical, written specifically for a young cast, this show is a great night out for all the family.
